October "Artist of the Month" - Vonnie Kohn

Vonnie Kohn's plein air oil on canvas "Echo Canyon" was painted in the early morning in front of a canyon located just outside of Chama, New Mexico.  Vonnie has a special fondness for this painting as she lived in New Mexico as a child.

Vonnie joined the CTAA in 2013.  She can be reached via email at vkohnartist@aol.com, and her work can be seen on her website: www.vonniekohn.com

November "Artist of the Month" - J.R. Cook

J.R. is a largely self-taught, though highly accomplished, landscape artist.  He loves to paint the rolling hills and oak forests found in north Texas.  This oil painting, "Afternoon Shadows," is a nice example of his attention to detail and use of light.  J.R.'s work has highly placed in local juried art shows, even recently capturing First Place in the "Light on the Land" Open Wet Paint Invitational Show.

J.R. re-joined the CTAA in 2013.  He was one of the original members of the art association, but got away from painting for a while.  He has recently returned to the art world to the delight of everyone who has viewed his work.

J.R. can be reached via email at jrcookartist@gmail.com and his work can be seen on his website: www.jrcookartist.com.
