The Chisholm Trail Art Association is a group of artists who have banded together for the purpose of promoting the visual arts in Montague County, Texas, and the surrounding area through art education, exhibition, sales, and fellowship, thereby enriching and enhancing the quality of life for both artists and non-artists alike. The CTAA is a 2010 organization member of the Kemp Center for the Arts.
All our current CTAA Members are listed in the page above called "Our Members".
Annual membership dues of $25.00 are due in January of each year (or prior to the second attended meeting). Dues are used to defray the cost of out-of-county speakers and demonstrators, and a number of other worthwhile things that will be determined by a vote of the membership. Membership in the Chisholm Trail Art Association also gives our members access to supply and service discounts from area merchants. Members can also enjoy showcasing their art in their own individual webpage by paying annual dues of $15.00.
The membership encourages visual artists, art educators, and those who love art but who might not yet call themselves artists, to join them on the second Thursday of each month. Locations for each meeting are announced in advance of each meeting.
Each meeting is preceded by a very casual live-model or still-life sketching session, which begins at 5:30pm. All who wish to attend the session should bring their own drawing materials.
Each meeting, which begins at 7:00pm, is highlighted by an art presentation and/or demonstration from a local area artist who specializes in a particular medium, subject, or style - or from an individual working in the field of art - with plenty of time to ask questions.
