"Artist of the Month" - 3rd and 4th Quarters 2011

September 2011 "Artist of the Month"
Debbie Malone

Debbie's beautiful hand-made glass bowl "Arctic Circle" is one of her most recent creations.  It is a 20" bowl created from recycled tempered glass that has been shattered and then reassembled into a circle in layers, and then fired in a kiln two times for a total of 26 hours.

Debbie works in both stained and fused glass, as well as acrylics.  Debbie likes to "push the envelope" and has developed a number of unique techniques in glass art, from decorative soldering to manipulating glass while in the kiln.  She also designs and creates unique glass jewelry, custom windows, and 3-D art as well as teaches glass classes at The Kemp Center for the Arts in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A member of the CTAA since 2008, this is Debbie's first time as "Artist of the Month".  Debbie is also a member of the Texas Glass Artists Association.  Her art work can be seen online at www.artfulartglass.com as well as in a number of shows and events throughout Texas.  She can be contacted by email at tofireflies@yahoo.com
