Community Involvement

Several of our CTAA members are heavily involved in community projects and performing volunteer work at local area festivals and events - the town library - the area hospital - and school and church activities...all of which benefit the local area.

In 2011, the group will be hosting a youth art show in conjunction with the Montague Child Welfare Board during the Western Heritage Roundup Festival, September 24th and 25th, in Bowie.  Watch for more information coming soon!

Another community project in the spring of 2010 involved a slide presentation to the Bowie Elementary School children about local hero Amon G. Carter, and how he founded "Bowie's First Fast Foot Restaurant", selling chicken and biscuits to folks on the train at the depot in the early years of Bowie's history.

In conjunction with this presentation, CTAA members held an art contest for the school children to decorate posters featuring various chickens.  Over 200 children participated in this event!  Ribbons were awarded to all who participated, and the top three winners in each grade won the "Top Hat Chicken" Award.  Their work was featured during the at the CTAA Art Gallery in downtown Bowie.
