"My name is Grell D. Anastascio and I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for inviting me to the Bowie art community. I'm originally from Trinidad, an island in South America off the coast of Venezuela.
I came to the United States in July of 1988 to pursue a career in Architectural Design and attained an Associate of Arts degree on December 15, 1989. I worked for about three years with a small company in Palm Beach Gardens doing interior kitchen designing - then changed careers in March of 1992 by joining the United States Army. Eight years later, I completed my military service and continued working at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in California under a private contractor.
I didn't get back involved with art until I took "Art History", working on my second degree. Due to unfortunate circumstances and a disability, my career as a wheeled vehicle mechanic stopped. For the next few years, my time was spent best with my kids. In August of 2006, I moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, in an effort to begin reshaping my life. None of the jobs were permanent that I did. My disability became an issue and work would come to a sudden halt because of surgery.
In May of 2007 I was sitting on a couch in my living room, wondering how to decorate it. That is where "air brushing on window blinds" began. The next day I drove to the store and purchased the first set of supplies to try an experiment in air brushing. Consequently, the silhouette of a bamboo plant inside a pot was the beginning... and I'm really looking forward to telling you all the rest..."
